Dear Dr. Ray: Thanks for explaining the difference between your Green Drink recipe and Juice Plus+ Complete. Is it okay to combine the two, and put Complete in my Green Drink?
Answer: Absolutely. A Green Drink, or a shake made with Juice Plus+ Complete, is always a great, quick meal. Combining the two also works well, especially if you want a full meal after a workout. Complete will change the taste of your Green Drink, of course, making it substantially sweeter. Some people love this, but others find that they miss the flavors of the fruits and veggies that they put in their Green Drink, so experiment to see what works for you.
I think that Juice Plus+ Complete is an incredibly high quality meal replacement. Some of the ingredients include: pumpkin, pomegranate, spirulina, broccoli, radish, alfalfa, amaranth, millet, rice bran, and chickpea (among many others).
One thing to know is that if you add Complete to your Green Drink, you need to drink it more quickly. Often I will make a large Green Drink in the morning and nurse it for several hours, finishing it a little before lunchtime. If I add Complete to the smoothie, I usually like to drink it within an hour or so. Complete contains a natural enzyme blend, and the enzymes in fruits and vegetables aid in digestion. This means that they’ll also aid in breaking down food that’s not yet being digested, so you don’t want to leave it sitting around for hours.
