For facial “recipes” and routines, refer to Do You Have The Guts to Be Beautiful? You can do the full facial whenever you have time. Initially, you can do it daily until you are happy with your skin. If you are really following a whole food, plant-based beauty diet, you will eventually need to do very few facials – maybe as few as once a month for maintenance, or whenever you’d like a little pampering.
If you’d like to do part of your facial routine in the shower, we recommend using the rice bran and liquid vitamin C when you shower (skip the lemon), and then finish with jojoba oil any time your skin feels dry. One additional step that isn’t mentioned in the book is that you can open up a Juice Plus+ Capsule (fruit, vegetable or vineyard) and mix the powder with your rice bran. This provides wonderful antioxidant nutrition directly to your skin.
All of the steps serve a purpose, so you can always choose whether you want to do all or some of them. If you’re short on time, you can simply wash your face with a warm washcloth and finish with jojoba oil. If you wear makeup, use castor oil to remove it in the evening, and then use a warm washcloth and finish with jojoba oil.
