Dear Reader,
To my friends in the US, I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. For me, I am thankful to be with my family at a more relaxed pace. I am reflecting on the past year both personally and professionally and I am grateful for all the people in my life who have made this an incredible year. New friends and old friends continue to add flavor to my life.
Whether it was at a seminar or an email or a phone call, I learned so much from being with all of you this year. You have challenged me to continue to grow and find answers about health and longevity. From a personal perspective, one aspect of longevity that became more accessible to me was my quest to slow my own hair from graying. From that simple initial inquiry, the current hair, prostate, and menopause study was born. This is the beginning of a vision I had many years ago to begin doing my own research. I am hopeful of what lies ahead as our understanding of plant nutrition grows and we find natural solutions to the challenges of aging with grace, dignity, and style.
Then there was my recent talk for Campfire USA in Everett, Washington, when I got to reflect on the health of future generations. During my time with Campfire, I addressed hundreds of people on the topic of childhood obesity. Contrary to what most parents expect that it is difficult to get kids to eat their veggies kids actually appreciate learning about food. Beyond just being open to learning about health, these kids are empowered when they learn that they can take charge of their own body. That is, children are not dumb, and they tune right in to how plant-based, whole food nutrition can improve their mood, their waistline, and their academic and sports performance. And this next generation is especially impressed by how their food choices actually impact the environment more than how long their showers are or how many miles they drive in the car.
So whether it is our own longevity or the possibility of next generations having easier access to a more healthy lifestyle that brings you to read my newsletter today, I thank you for your interest, readership, and support.
